Long time - No updates.
Here's a quick run-down as to what the tyrants have been up to this summer:
VACATIONS
DAVID: David recently returned from a relaxing trip along the inside passage of Alaska, USA. David claims to have spotted some whales, panned for gold, drank a lot of Alaskan ale, and written a few pages of the new BRUCE! movie.
ADAM: Adam is currently visiting Los Angeles, California, USA. Adam claims that he will be taking in a few concerts, touring a couple of movie studios, drinking in The Viper Room, and doing absolutely no work whatsoever.
JON: Jon made his way to exotic and mysterious Nisku, Alberta, CANADA. Jon claims the trip was an entire ten kilometres from his home. You need a vacation Jon.
FILM PROJECTS
SEG/ME/NTS: THE FEATURE - David's segment, THE INTRUDER wrapped in June. All that remains is a few pick-ups for Jon's segment, VISIONS (which has been in production longer than the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy) and the film will finally be completed. The tyrants look forward to screening the movie this fall. We promise it won't suck!
MY PET COWBOY - Our little short film that refuses to die. After successful screenings in February with RIO LOCO, followed by a screening at Edmonton's NeXtfest, MY PET COWBOY was invited to play at handgun manufacturer Smith & Wesson's annual retailer convention in California. It must have been well received, because after the screening, everyone in the room pulled their pistols and shot at the ceiling. Next up: The festival circuit, and a DVD release. Check the MY PET COWBOY page for the latest screening information. Sorry, but for legal reasons an online version will not be available at this time.
MUSIC VIDEOS

Son Dexter

Dirt Gritie
Coming soon: New Music Videos! The tyrants have just completed the production of two new music videos: "Abusive Relationship" by Son Dexter and "The Intruder" by Dirt Gritie.
We shot the Son Dexter video at Yuk-Yuk's Comedy Club - the best air-conditioned room in Edmonton! Son Dexter had literally thousands of watts of light beaming on his face for several hours, and he never even broke a sweat! Thanks to the staff and management at Yuk's for being so "cool". Look for the video later this fall. In the meantime, visit sondexter.com for more "music ta move your body and soul".
The Dirt Gritie "Intruder" video is a direct tie-in to the SEG/ME/NTS episode of the same name. Dirt Gritie (best known for his work with the hip-hop outfit POLITIC LIVE) wrote us an amazing new song, for our exclusive use on the movie soundtrack. We decided to return the favour by making him an equally amazing video. The video guest-stars Heidi Michelle Thomas II (former lead vocalist of Mystica), Andrew Mecready (Little Green Riding Hood), and The Intruder himself, Murray Utas! For more information on Dirt Gritie and Politic Live click here.

SAD NEWS:
RECORDING ARTIST WESLEY WILLIS DEAD AT 40
We're sad to report that multiple-recording artist Wesley Willis has passed away on Tuesday, August 21st. Diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) at the end of 2002, Willis recently lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 40.
For those of you unfamilar with Wesley's genius, here's an excerpt from his record company's press release:
"Wesley Willis stood 6'5" tall and weighed somewhere between 300 and 350 pounds prior to contracting leukemia, and liked to greet people with a headbutt. Wesley enjoyed walking the streets of Chicago, peddling his detailed ballpoint/felt-tip renderings of the city and riding around on the bus. On October 21, 1989, he began hearing voices and was shortly thereafter diagnosed as having chronic schizophrenia. Willis claimed to have "schizophrenia demons" in his head that take him off of his "harmony joy rides" to put him on "torture hell rides". In 1992 Wesley began writing songs, and soon after, guitarist Dale Meiners took Wesley in to his studio to record them. After many line-up changes, Meiners and Wesley formed the Wesley Willis Fiasco, with Wesley as frontman. Willis had built up a small cult following with his bizarre, three-chord rants about trivial everyday items, music, and people he knows. For the first part of the 90's, several independently released tapes of his songs appeared, eventually followed by indie recordings of his albums. He now has over 1000 songs in circulation and has recorded at least 50 albums. "
Willis was an inspiration to the many people whose lives were touched by his music, his artwork, and his unique sense of humor. Wesley found a way to channel his inner demons into beautiful art, becoming a respected and important member of society despite his severe mental handicap. Here at tyrant pictures, we are deeply saddened by his death, but take comfort in knowing that his music will always be there to entertain us.
